FULL HEALTH SURVEILLANCE

Includes: audio, lung function, skin assessment, HAV’s tier 1 or 2

Reasons for Assessments

Health surveillance is a legal requirement in specific circumstances when there is still some residual risk to worker’s health despite the control measures you may have put in place, and they are likely to be exposed to noise, respiratory and skin sensitisers and HAVS.

Recommended Frequency: Annually / recommendations in accordance with HSE regulations.

Appointment Times: 60 minute appointment

Comments: Reduced rate as all testing will be incorporated into one appointment No VAT

AUDIOMETRY

Includes health declaration questionnaire screening, otoscope ear exam, hearing test, explanation of results and report

Reasons for Assessments

Anyone exposed to noise working in areas above 85 dBA or where hearing protection is required. (Please note this excludes any staff who is office based going in and out of plant for short periods less than 8-hour intervals). Under the new Aaudio criteria and an OHP review will be required for any potential noise induced hearing loss.

Recommended Frequency: Any suspected noise induced hearing loss standards across all categories will require OHP involvement and sign off, following new standards.

Annual test for first 3 years, then 3 yearly recalls unless the clinician / OHP states otherwise.

Unilateral hearing loss for any Categories may result in earlier recall.

SPIROMETRY

Spirometry (Lung Function Testing) – This is required for anyone who is exposed to dusts, chemicals, oils, powders, wood or welding fumes. (As above note this excludes any staff who is office based going in and out of plant for short periods less than 8-hour intervals).

Reasons for Assessments

To monitor employee respiratory health and ensure compliance with regulations like COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations). It helps identify early signs of lung damage or disease, particularly those potentially caused by workplace exposures, allowing for timely intervention and prevention of serious health problems.

SKIN ASSESSMENT

Includes skin questionnaire and examination of exposed skin areas

Reasons for Assessments

These are crucial for identifying and addressing work-related skin conditions, ensuring employee health and safety, and meeting legal obligations. These assessments help detect early signs of skin problems like dermatitis, rashes, and skin cancer, allowing for prompt intervention and prevention of more severe issues.

Recommended Frequency: Annually

Appointment Times: 15 minute appointment

HAND AND ARM VIBRATION (HAV’S)

Reasons for Assessments

Hand Arm Vibration- from prolonged exposure to hand-arm vibration from the use of power tools and machinery can result in a debilitating and permanent condition.

Recommended Frequency: Annually for Tier 1 and Tier 2 if any positive responses onward referral is required.

Appointment Times: Tier 1 15 minutes

Tier 2 15 minutes

Tier 3/4 45 to 60 minutes

Tier 4 60 minutes
