INITIAL VACCINATION CONSULTATION
Reasons for Assessments
Vaccines contain antigens or the blueprint for making the antigens. An antigen generates an immune response and may be a small part of the disease-causing organism, like a protein or sugar, or it may be the whole organism in a weakened or inactive form.
Recommended Frequency: In accordance with green book vaccinations.
Appointment Times: 10 to 15 minutes
Comments: Includes immunisation record
FOLLOW UP VACCINATION
Reasons for Assessments
Vaccination is the term used for getting a vaccine — that is, actually having the injection or taking an oral vaccine dose. Immunisation is the process of both getting the vaccine and becoming immune to the disease after vaccination.
Recommended Frequency: In accordance with green book vaccinations.
Appointment Times: 10 to 15 minutes
Comments: Includes immunisation record
HEP A VACCINE
Reasons for Assessments
The Hepatitis A vaccine is a safe and effective way to prevent Hepatitis A infection. It’s typically administered in two doses, with the second dose given 6 to 12 months after the first, and provides long-term protection for at least 25 years. The vaccine is especially recommended for those traveling to areas where Hepatitis A is common, individuals with certain health conditions, and those with jobs that put them at increased risk.
Recommended Frequency: In accordance with green book vaccinations.
Appointment Times: 10 to 15 minutes
Comments: Includes immunisation record
HEP B VACCINE
Reasons for Assessments
The vaccine stimulates the body’s immune system to produce antibodies against the hepatitis B virus, providing protection without causing the disease itself.
Administered at 0, 1 and 6 months followed by blood test to ensure full immunity.
Recommended Frequency: In accordance with green book vaccinations.
Appointment Times: 10 to 15 minutes
Comments: Includes immunisation record
HEP A & B VACCINE
Reasons for Assessments
The hepatitis A/B vaccine is a combined vaccine that protects against both hepatitis A and hepatitis B viruses. It’s a safe and effective way to gain immunity against both infections with a single course of injections. This vaccine is particularly useful for travellers or individuals at risk of both hepatitis A and B infections. This is administered with three doses, the initial one followed by a month later, then 6 months later and then check blood titre levels 4-6 weeks after that.
Recommended Frequency: In accordance with green book vaccinations.
Appointment Times: 10 to 15 minutes
Comments: Includes immunisation record
HEP B SURFACE ANTIGEN ANTIBODY BLOOD TEST
Reasons for Assessments
A hepatitis B titre, specifically the anti-HBs (hepatitis B surface antibody) level, is a blood test that measures the level of antibodies in your blood, indicating your level of protection against the hepatitis B virus. A titre above 10 mIU/mL is generally considered protective, with levels above 100 mIU/mL considered optimal.
Recommended Frequency: > 10 mIU/mL (or sometimes > 12 mIU/mL): Considered protective, indicating immunity.
10-100 mIU/mL: Generally protective, but a booster dose may be recommended for those at high risk.
< 10 mIU/mL: May indicate a poor or absent response to the vaccine, and further evaluation is needed.
Appointment Times: 10 to 15 minutes
Comments: Includes immunisation record
TETANUS VACCINE (DIP/TET/POLIO)
Reasons for Assessments
Adults may need this vaccine as a booster dose every 10 years to maintain protection. It is also recommended for those traveling to areas where these diseases are prevalent or for individuals with tetanus-prone wounds.
Recommended Frequency: In accordance with green book vaccinations.
Appointment Times: 10 to 15 minutes
Comments: Includes immunisation record
