OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH NURSE ADVISERS

Individual should be aware of referral reasons and any specific questions with HR or Line Manager prior to appointment being made. Case Management is carried out by an Occupational Health Specialist. Please note occupational health is advisory and implementations is a business decision. Ethos Health endeavour to ensure the occupational health nurse practitioner who starts the initial consultation will complete the case through to full return to work or other conclusion has been completed.

Reasons for Assessments

An employee can be referred for case management for many reasons: Short, frequent or long term absence (over 4 weeks) ; concerns regarding capability to continue with current role; accidents or illness at work. Ethos Health will advise recommendations or adjustments to ensure the health, safety and welfare of all employees. Reports will include employee’s fitness to fulfil role, any rehabilitation to allow a return to work, identify any potential work-related element to the employee’s health condition, look at reasonable adjustments or support on a clear concise report with practical support with any actions plans.

Recommended Frequency: Frequency of review appointments are individually set by each occupational health nurse practitioner and will; be dependant on the underlying health condition(s).

Appointment Times: Initial assessment 60 minutes (Additional time can be added depending on complexity of case – cost may vary).

Review appointments 30 minutes

CASE CONFERENCES

The conference is an opportunity to discuss any health issues the employee may have and the impact of these issues on their employment. The aim to reach a common understanding of the issues and agreeing a way forward. Please note these sessions are in confidence however employees should be aware that management have had the opportunity to discuss their case with Occupational Health, this is generally carried out at the consent stage and is advisory only no reports or recommendation will be placed in writing.

Reasons for Assessments

The purpose of a medical case conference is to bring together your support team and provide an opportunity to collaborate and discuss the best pathway forward for your recovery. These can be arranged as a telephone , face to face or Microsoft Teams consultations with HR /LM to discuss in depth details of clients prior to appointments being undertaken. This ensures full clarity of what is required at the employee consultation, any work related concerns, job history, absence data disclaimer hearings. 30 minutes are located for these sessions.

Recommended Frequency: Case conferences are booked prior to case management referrals to ensure all aspects of the referral are covered.

Appointment Times: Generally 30 minute appointments are adequate to cover all aspects of each case
